A Visit From Felicity

You came to me when winter’s sharpened claws Still wrapped around my raw and tender throat Your unexpected visit gave me pause I stared as you removed your frosted coat You came to me as tulips stretched for air They burst and budded from the flower bed You tended to them softly and with care But left as soon as summer reared its head You came to me beneath the August sky The golden sand adorned with stones and shells You danced with me until I felt alive Then disappeared below the ocean’s swells And now that autumn’s knocking at the door I hope that you will visit me once more
